Working with Children and Young People

Commitment to the Care of the Young

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is deeply committed to ensuring the safety and well being of children and young people that participate in the numerous activities organised by members of the church in Nunthorpe. In recognition of the great responsibility and trust that is placed upon them the PCC have developed a Child Protection Policy based on the Diocese of York Model Child Protection Policy.

Under this policy all Youth Workers are assessed for their suitability to work with young people and Enhanced Disclosure checks are carried out with the Criminal Records Bureau, via the offices of the Archbishop of York.

Under this policy any allegations of inappropriate behaviour will be taken very seriously and appropriate investigations by relevant authorities initiated.

The PCC have appointed Dr Graham Hassall (01642 318195) as the Parish Child Protection Representative. Any matters of concern or queries should be addressed to him in the first instance or by email to pcpr@stmarys-nunthorpe.org.

Please see the Youth Groups page for the various youth group provisions.
